Software - AWB Time
One of the first things when starting an observational session is to ensure that your device (e.g. observatory PC) and/or mount controller has the correct local date, time and time zone specified as accurately as possible.
This application provides a facility to call a public facing NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) service to obtain an accurate time. NIST is a U.S. Government department founded in 1901 and provides (amongst many other things) public facing web services that may be called on specified I.P addresses - it is this facility that my application uses. Please note that if you are behind a firewall, depending upon how it has been configured, it may block the NIST call.
